Graham and Chris had been long serving customers of Dugdales and had various aerial and SKY work done over the years. After reading an article explaining how Dugdales were helping people to make the most out of their technology they decided to book an appointment at Dugdales ‘Connected SMART Home’ showroom to see what they can do.
Chris wanted to get an IPad but wanted some help making the most out of it, they had an old 40” Plasma television with a SKY+ HD box, but weren’t making the most out of their SKY subscription and because the TV was quite old, they couldn’t see a big difference in picture quality between High Definition and non High Definition.
Chris and Graham had poor wifi in part of their house and on order for them to use newer technology, we had to improve this.
We installed a device for Graham and Chris so they could easily convert their CD’s and DVD’s, which once done, they can access via their new Samsung SMART TV (that we supplied and installed) and Ipad.
The device converts the CD’s to a lossless format so that they don’t lose any of their quality and also acts as a storage device where photos and videos can be stored and accessed easily by the couples different SMART devices.
In order for Graham to make the most out of his music collection, we attached a Sonos device to his existing Bose systems that enables him to create playlists, listen to different music and all with a touch of a button on his SMART phone.
Graham loves music, but the Bose system he already had, although the speaker quality was good, the actually functionality of the system wasn’t. Graham had hundreds of CD’s, a substantial DVD collection and they also subscribed to Film Four as they both liked watching movies.
Over a number of post install visits, we helped both Graham and Chris make the most out of the equipment we installed. This involved both practical demonstrations, but because Chris took responsibility for their home media, we created a series of documents showing Chris how to organise and save their family pictures and videos.
Graham was so impressed with the improved sound quality and functionality of the Sonos unit we supplied a new ‘Play 5’ music speaker in another part of the house and they have recommended Dugdales to several of their friends.

The couple from Barrow, arranged an appointment at Dugdales new ‘Connected SMART Home’ showroom in Clitheroe, to try and understand what technology was available and what would best suit their needs. “We didn’t know what was available. Technology has moved that fast, we felt that getting the right advice was crucial,” explains Susan.
After their appointment at the showroom, they arranged a free home visit where Dugdales went to their house to understand what the couple wanted to achieve, what technology was already in place, who lived in the house and how they used each room, before going away and creating a document to highlight a connected solution that Dugdales could offer.
With the kitchen already chosen and builders due on-site within the week, time was of the essence, so Dugdales created a clear plan to make sure that the correct cabling was in place. Dugdales also met with the other tradesmen on-site to ensure that John and Susan could get the finish they were after.
“We had SKY+ box in our living room and also had it linked to another room with a magic eye for control, but we felt the picture was really grainy,” explains John.
“Dugdales upgraded us to SKY+ HD, centralised the box and distributed the pictures in High Definition quality to the new kitchen TV, lounge and snug with full control as before. “They even arranged for the plug sockets and connections to be recessed behind the kitchen TV so that it could sit flat to the wall.”
Dugdales then provided a number of post install visits to make sure Susan and John were comfortable using everything and that there were no problems. “Our boys are at university and we wanted to create a place where John and I could relax after a hard day’s work,” adds Susan. “We wanted the kitchen to look right and although we didn’t fully realise it at the time, the TV actually plays a large role in bringing it all together. “Almost every night John comments on what an exceptionally good picture it is. We are so glad we asked Dugdales for help.”

Rod is a keen photographer and has 1000’s of photos on his PC and digital camera. Both Pat and Rod like watching sports and also listening to music, especially from Brazil where they had lived for several years. They wanted to be able to backup and access their photos easily, create playlists of their favourite music, artists and access Brazilian radio stations, all in an easy and convenient way.
Dugdales installed two new wall mounted Samsung SMART TV’s, a SKY+ HD box , SONOS sound system, a Samsung 10” tablet and made sure that there was good wifi throughout the house. The SMART TV’s were connected to the home network and internet and the SKY+ HD box was installed in the living room but, with the picture also distributed up to the main bedroom so they can access all their recordings and change channels while led in bed.

Over a series of ‘at home’ lessons, Dugdales showed Pat and Rod how to backup all their photos onto a central ‘digital library’ and then, how to access them through their new SMART TV’s and tablet. Dugdales also converted some DVD’s and stored them on the ‘digital library’ for easy access, as well as demonstrating the easy use and functionality of the Sonos sound system which allows Rod and Pat to access millions of songs and play them through sound system, via their new tablet.
